The Stratbase Institute and the Prospect Foundation hosted a closed-door online meeting on May 27, 2025. The discussion focused on key geopolitical and geo-economic issues in the Indo-Pacific, particularly on the perspectives of the Philippines and Taiwan on China’s recent actions and opportunities for Taiwan-Philippines cooperation.
Stratbase Institute President and CEO Prof. Dindo Manhit gave a short overview of Geopolitics and the State of the World in 2025 and underscored the need for strategic collaboration for both Taiwan and the Philippines to achieve their national interest and economic security as the world continues to face asymmetric security challenges.
The meeting was joined by Dr. Tan Sun Chen (Former Minister of Foreign Affairs; Chairman of Prospect Foundation), Dr. I-Chung Lai (President, Prospect Foundation), Mr. Raymond Sung (Vice President, Prospect Foundation), and Ms. Norah Huang (Director of International Relations, Prospect Foundation).
Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office also joined the meeting and was represented by LtGen. Michael Lee (Ret) (Deputy Representative, Taiwan Economic and Cultural Office).
Stratbase Non-Resident Fellows Dr. Renato de Castro, Dr. Charmaine Misalucha-Willoughby, Dr. Sherwin Ona, and Mr. Don McLain Gill joined the discussion. Stratbase Group Chief of Staff Dana Dinsay, Defense and Security Program Managers Kat Guerrero, Anya Cruz, and Linar Orbista were in the closed-door meeting.
