On August 6, 2025, during the Jakarta Futures Forum in Jakarta, Indonesia, the India-Philippines Track 2 Dialogue was held between Stratbase Institute and Observer Research Foundation (ORF).
The discussion commenced with opening remarks from Dr. Harsh Pant (Vice-President for Studies and Foreign Policy, ORF) and Dr. Jaime M. Jimenez (Deputy Executive Director for Research, Stratbase Institute). During Session 1, entitled “India and Philippines Strategic Partnership in the Age of Multipolarity”, discussions revolved around the topic of the India-Philippines strategic partnership in the context of a multipolar world. Dr. Jaime M. Jimenez and Dr. Renato De Castro (Program Convenor, Trustee, and Non-Resident Fellow, Stratbase Institute) analyzed the progress in bilateral relations, emphasizing shared democratic values and the potential for deeper collaboration in defense, trade, and infrastructure.
Dr. Jaime M. Jimenez also moderated Session 2 entitled “Exploring Future Prospects for Strategic Collaboration in the Indo-Pacific: Minilateralism, Maritime Security, and Supply Chain Resilience,” which delved into future prospects for strategic cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. As panelists, Stratbase Non-Resident Fellows Dr. Renato De Castro and Mr. Don McLain Gill highlighted opportunities in minilateralism, maritime security, and supply chain resilience.
Both sessions underscored the importance of strengthening partnerships to address regional challenges and promote a rule-based international order.
