Stratbase Institute President and CEO Prof. Dindo Manhit was invited as a speaker during the Social Weather Stations (SWS) forum entitled “Kapihan sa sa SWS | Kalakaran? The SWS Surveys on Corruption.”
He reacted to the survey results, highlighting how these surveys demonstrate that Filipinos want transparency and accountability, as corruption is perceived as a top-level problem. There is widespread dissatisfaction with governance and anger toward the misuse of funds. The Filipino people are increasingly aware of corruption and are demanding transparency, ethical leadership, and accountability.
There is a need for inclusive governance as it is crucial in attracting and sustaining investments because it fosters transparency, accountability, and trust, which are essential for long-term economic growth and stability.
The Kapihan, co-organized by SWS and the National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Division VIII (Social Sciences), focused on SWS surveys on corruption dating back to 1999, beginning with the study “An Exploratory Study of Graft and Corruption in the Philippines,” by Linda Luz Guerrero and Steven Rood, published in the Philippine Social Science Council (PSSC) Social Science Information (January–June 1999). It also presented findings from the Transparent Accountable Governance (TAG) Surveys of Enterprises conducted from 2000 to 2016. In particular, the forum highlighted key results from the most recent SWS October 2025 Survey on Corruption among respondents in Mega Manila.
