The previous year has been characterized by the rapid adoption of digital tools and the enhanced shift to online transactions. Without a doubt, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated digital transformation. While the world comes to grips with the ongoing health and economic crisis, technology continues to evolve and plays a key role in every facet of our lives, may it be social, political, or economic.
Driven by this theme, the Stratbase ADR Institute organized a webinar in partnership with the Philippine American Academy of Science and Engineering (PAASE) to bring together speakers from Google, Amazon, Netflix, Grab Philippines, and Mynt (Globe Fintech Innovations, Inc.) in an event entitled, “What new technologies are these companies working on?” The event aimed to discuss users’ changing behavior, significant tech trends and challenges, and the role of tech in shaping life in 2021.
The Stratbase ADR Institute recognizes the importance of technological change and adoption. Technological innovation and the continued development of our digital infrastructure are vital in the country’s economic recovery and inclusive growth. Technology is also critical in addressing emerging challenges such as cybersecurity, disinformation, and weakening democratic institutions.
It is therefor, important that we recognize the trends, challenges, and directions in technology, not only to better understand what lies ahead, but also to anticipate how we can best use these innovations for the advantage and progress of our organizations, industries and the nation.
