As part of the 48th ASEAN Summit and Related Meetings hosted by the Philippines as ASEAN Chair, Stratbase Institute served as the event partner for the ASEAN-EU Sustainability Summit 2026 held at Tambuli Seaside Resort in Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. The summit gathered over 200 senior representatives from the political, economic, and business sectors to discuss ongoing energy and economic challenges and how ASEAN can accelerate its transition toward a more resilient and sustainable economy.
Department of Finance Secretary Frederick Go delivered the Ministerial Keynote, where he highlighted the Philippines’ strong economic performance despite continuing global economic uncertainty. He also underscored policy reforms that continue to make the Philippines conducive to investments that generate more sustainable and quality jobs for the Filipino people. Secretary Go likewise emphasized the importance of stronger partnerships among the EU, ASEAN, and the Philippines to promote green cooperation and sustainable development.
Stratbase Institute President and CEO Prof. Dindo Manhit also moderated the fireside chat entitled “EU-ASEAN Cooperation for Climate Resilience,” joined by Climate Change Commission Secretary Robert Borje and Ambassador of the EU Delegation to the Philippines Massimo Santoro. The fireside chat explored how deeper ASEAN-EU and Philippines-EU cooperation can strengthen climate resilience through more practical, scalable, and forward-looking approaches in areas such as energy systems, infrastructure, risk management, financing, and sustainable development.
Stratbase Institute is a partner of the Department of Trade and Industry for conferences under the Committee on Business and Investment Promotion as the Philippines holds the ASEAN Chairship this 2026. Stratbase continues to advocate for stronger partnerships among like-minded states to advance climate resilience, sustainable trade, and long-term economic stability in an increasingly complex global environment.
